August 2011

Hello!

July has been as busy as ever and it started off with a trip to the Henley Regatta in the first weekend. We are so proud to offer the hospitality at Leander Club and this year was even better. The place was absolutely buzzing and we couldn’t have asked for better weather; making the Pimm's and Champagne go down a treat for all guests.  The marquee looked stunning again, and I always find it fascinating that they build it around a tree within the grounds making it a feature within the event space.

I was out in Portugal at our villa, Casa Monte Cristo, with some guests mid July.  We were greeted with mini bottles of Champagne and some delightful nibbles on arrival which was much appreciated by all. The temperature was scorching all weekend – some of you will know how obsessed I get with the thermometer – and I can tell you that it hit forty degrees.

No sooner was I back in England then I dashed off to the Fisher Productions party.  It was great to catch up with industry colleagues and peers and enjoy their hospitality that evening. I also enjoyed a night at the theatre with some guests.  I took them for a bite to eat beforehand before heading off to the Cambridge Theatre to see one of my favourite shows, Chicago.  Christie Brinkley was playing the part of Roxy and I really enjoyed Jonathan Wilkes’s portrayal of Billy Flynn.  I was definitely humming the songs for at least a week afterwards.

Sunday 24th July saw one of the biggest dates in our hospitality calendar; Cartier International Polo.  The Crown Foundation, the Crown Group’s registered charity, played host to over 200 guests in a spectacular marquee for the day.  We had the most wonderful meal; a five-course extravaganza designed and executed by Daniel Clifford, chef patron of Midsummer House, our two Michelin starred Restaurant in Cambridge. It was absolutely delicious and my favourite was definitely the smoked salmon Scotch egg – yum! After breakfast pastries and lunch, guests also enjoyed a cheeseboard and afternoon tea.  How we managed to fit it all in I’ll never know.  This was finished off with a selection of white, pink and ruby port.  What a day!

I have also enjoyed a little time to myself too, which saw me celebrate my sister’s engagement.  I’m very excited as I have been asked to be a bridesmaid, although it’s something I haven’t done since I was about two.  Somehow I think I’ll have more responsibility with this wedding!

Keep well and I’ll catch up with you soon.
