September 2011

Hello!

I hope you’ve all had wonderful summer holidays – and escaped the coldest summer here since 1993. I’m feeling rather smug as I am yet to go on mine; the 3 week countdown has begun!

I thought August was supposed to be quieter? The team have taken a record number of enquiries this month so there definitely has been no rest for the wicked. I have been out and about a lot too, taking advantage of the slightly quieter London transport system and making the most of catching up with people when the venues are not so hectic with events.

I had a day off in early August and my husband and I went to Ronnie Scott’s to listen to the music of John Barry. We fully carried on the James Bond theme by finishing off the evening in a casino. Very pleased with myself as I ended up winning £10!

I have been to the Guards Polo Club to watch some local polo which was really exciting. I spent the day there with some guests enjoying some wonderful hospitality. The lunch was delicious; a plated starter then a buffet for main and dessert. We ended up discussing the best way to make the most use of the plate size to incorporate as much of the yummy food as possible! We also managed to fit in afternoon tea too. Truly spoilt.

The company put on a fabulous family day out at Thorpe Park mid August to raise money for the Crown Foundation. As well as entrance to the attraction, we also were given breakfast and a scrumptious BBQ courtesy of Seasoned Events. It was a great day and it was lovely to see over 300 staff and friends enjoying such a fun day out. I love the fast rollercoasters but I was rather pleased that I didn’t get stuck for 15 minutes on Saw The Ride as I did the last time I visited!

I am really delighted to tell you that we have been shortlisted for Caterer of the Year for the 2011 Event Awards. I’m really looking forward to the ceremony in September – so fingers crossed.

I hope you all enjoyed the bank holiday weekend. I went for a lovely trip back home to Stratford upon Avon where it was great to catch up with my family and friends. The weekend included a curry with my parents, a hectic lunch with my friend and her 3 children, a night out in Birmingham and a delicious Sunday roast – so varied but such fun.

Keep well and I’ll catch up with you soon,

Catherine x
