The evolution of the ‘awkward veggie’

As a lifelong vegetarian (my mother’s influence!) I have seen first-hand how far we have come in the world of meat-free dining. Long gone are the days of the veggie guest being the afterthought, instead we are now presented with a wealth of innovative and delicious dishes.

As a young vegetarian at dinner events and weddings, my mother would be presented with two options… you eat around the meat and are left hungry, or you eat a salad of cheese, lettuce, tomato and cucumber and undoubtedly, are left hungry. No wonder she was such a skinny thing! Luckily these days vegetarian food is not only widely accessible but better still, it’s actually really tasty!

As an award winning London caterer we take immense pride in developing new and exciting dishes for our vegetarian guests, seeing veggie food as an opportunity to show off our understanding of produce and creative flair. Our aim is to give all of our guests a culinary experience that they will savour.

Here at Seasoned HQ there’s nothing we like more than to celebrate good food! This National Vegetarian Week (15th – 21st May) will be no different. I have challenged the Sales and Creative team to go green in honour of vegetarian food. And I encourage all you foodies out there to do the same and really experience the delights of being a vegetarian in 2017!
